San Felipe Street

work-in-progress

This private residence in Houston (USA), due to be completed in 2025, is specifically designed to facilitate effortless entertaining, requiring adaptable spaces for both large and intimate gatherings. The design plays with the exploration of charming juxtapositions. Neutral tones provide a serene foundation, punctuated by pops of colour that add vibrancy and personality. Light and shadow play a serene game, creating a sense of openness and intimacy at the same time. Opaque surfaces offer a sense of grounded solidity, while their glossy counterparts add a touch of glamour and invite exploration. A curated interplay of vintage treasures and contemporary pieces add layers of character, enveloping the space with a distinct sense of  warmth.

Upon entering, a powdery soft runner leads to the open plan space of the residence. The unique console designed by Vincenzo De Cotiis is made of extraordinary stone and grounds the space for a large scale artwork, framed by the iconic table lamp Taccia by Flos. Further on the right the space is enlarged thanks to an harmonic display of vintage mirror and coat hangers by Mario Bellini that brightens the space.

The open living space, enveloped by a soft, translucent drapery, unfolds into distinct zones. First, we encounter the Gathering Room, a haven designed for large-scale entertaining. Mario Bellini's iconic Camaleonda modular sofa takes centre stage, a landscape of reconfigurable blocks that can be rearranged to suit any occasion. Atmospheric table lamps, carefully placed atop the blocks, bathe the space in a warm glow. Across the room, a unique shelving unit designed by Dimore Studio adds a touch of curated elegance. Transitioning seamlessly, the Living Room emerges. A generous sofa anchors the space, grounded on a plush rug in subdued tones. Across from it, a floating shelf system rests against a bespoke timber wall panel, creating a sophisticated backdrop. The final act of this open-plan is the Dining Room. A sculptural table with a unique marble top, paired with vintage chairs brimming with character, invites intimate gatherings. Overhead, a large, lightweight pendant lamp from Apparatus bathes the space in a soft, diffused light, while a captivating piece of artwork completes the scene.

A modern dining room with a round marble table, four black chairs, a large abstract painting on the wall, a contemporary chandelier, beige curtains, and wood flooring.

Stepping into the master bedroom, softness reigns supreme. The bespoke bed, upholstered in light leather, invites relaxation. A plush ombre rug extends a warm welcome, while an enveloping lounge chair beckons for moments of quiet respite.

The bespoke white oiled oak wall cladding contrasts beautifully with the darkened mirror. This theme continues with the bedside tables, playing with darker walnut wood structure and luxurious white marble tops. A vintage asymmetric pendant light counterbalanced by a large table lamp complete the picture.

The dedicated workspace, separated by the mirrored side of the TV partition, offers a haven of tranquility. A sleek, one-piece desk and shelving unit is paired with a comfortable Tom Dixon Fat Chair, providing the perfect environment for focus. The wall extends to create a bespoke wardrobe, connecting with the adjacent walk-in walk-in wardrobe room.
